چکیده

As science communities and commercial organisations increasingly exploit XML as a means of exchanging and disseminating information, the selective exposure of information in XML has become an important issue. In this paper, we present a novel XML security framework developed to enforce a generic, flexible access-control mechanism for XML data management, which supports efficient and secure query access, without revealing sensitive information to unauthorized users. Major components underlying the framework are discussed and the current status of a reference implemenation is reported.

XML Security Views Revisited

In this paper, we revisit the view based security framework for XML without imposing any of the previously considered restrictions on the class of queries, the class of DTDs, and the type of annotations used to define the view. First, we show that the full class of Regular XPath queries is closed under query rewriting. Next, we address the problem of constructing a DTD that describes the view s...

Static analysis of XML security views and query rewriting

In this paper, we revisit the view based security framework for XML without imposing any of the previously considered restrictions on the class of queries, the class of DTDs, and the type of annotations used to define the view. First, we study query rewriting with views when the classes used to defined queries and views are Regular XPath and MSO. Next, we investigate problems of static analysis...

A Self-Protecting Security Framework for CDA Documents

Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) is a standard for the exchange of electronic medical records. This paper describes a self-protecting security framework for protecting the security and privacy of CDA documents. The framework extends a CDA document with markups from XML based security standards including eXtensible Access Control Markup Language, XML Encryption, and XML Signature. This integ...

From Xml to Rdf: Syntax, Semantics, Security, and Integrity

In this paper we evaluate security methods for eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and the Resource Description Framework (RDF). We argue that existing models are insufficient to provide high assurance security for future Web-based applications. We begin with a brief overview of XML access control models, where the protection objects are identified by the XML syntax. We show, that these approaches...

An XML framework for multi-level access control in the enterprise domain

Modeling security information has always been a fundamental part of every security system. A robust and flexible model is needed in order to guarantee both the easy management of security information and the efficient implementation of security mechanisms. In this paper, we present an XMLbased framework, which can be used for controlling access to computer systems. The framework is mainly targe...
